Glorious Preparatory school is the first step towards fulfilling our dream of “Glorious Education Services.” We Hope the Name Glorious immediately shows every one our Dream in our activities, such that we can be seen having a journey to take each child under our care to a defined destination. This requires total commitment and sacrifice which we have decided to offer.

In Brief, GLORIOUS EDUCATION SERVICES is an idea that was initiated by Mr. Muhindo Benjamin before being sold to other members. Having been born in 1974, he (Muhindo Benjamin) grew up to the age of 12 yrs with both parents alive who later died of Aids in 1986 &1987  when he was in Primary 5 and 6 respectively. This changed his life drastically to a hopeless young boy.

By God’s Grace & Goodwill/charity from other people he continued with Education though with difficulties and attained a bachelor’s degree in education and qualified to teach (Economics & Geography) in secondary schools. He later trained and acquired certificates in peace promotion, public administration and management, procurement and logistics management, and computer skills among others

He was immediately accepted to teach at Kyebambe Girls’ secondary school as a volunteer supported by the parents up to November 2008 when he was recruited by the government. while at Kyebambe G. S.S, he met Mr & Mrs. Sandy Riddell and Anne Harrison (0ld Teachers of the same school). They involved him in monitoring & effecting fees payment  sent for some disadvantaged children periodically to him at school. In addition to his personal experience this made him think about their act of Goodwill and decided to do some thing for others which could serve the community even when he would no longer be alive. When the idea was sold to other people, it resulted into the formation of GLORIOUS EDUCATION SERVICES which led to the establishment of Glorious Preparatory School.

                                  It is intended to:-

                                  (a)      Promote Good quality and relevant Education and therefore Hope for a meaningful future for children (especially the disadvantaged i.e. orphans, disabled, and poverty stricken children),   including their social, spiritual, physical and vocational development so that they grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and that their conditions of life may be improved.

                                  (b)      Provide such special benefit of any kind (material or immaterial) not normally provided by Education authorities for the pupils attending some schools.

In addition to the on going guidance and counselling, Glorious Preparatory school has been opened (Nursery to primary three classes) in a simple but acceptable structure built on the Project’s land and site. More classes shall be added so as to have primary seven from the same centre. It has been located in one of the suburbs of Kasese town council in Uganda, East Africa where people who were displaced by the war were resettled. Fifty eight children are currently registered and attending lessons with us in two months of operation and we expect the number to increase very fast.

A team of Eight Hardworking members of staff have been recruited to help in running this centre. I.e. One volunteering supervisor, one volunteering station administrator (Head teacher), five teachers, and one cook.

Though in its infant stages, the greatest funding to establish Glorious education centre was provided as charity from Muhindo Benjamin, the initiator, more assistance (financial and non-financial) has been got from friends (Sandy & Elizabeth Riddell, Diane Ellis, Chris Madeley, Jean and Keith Dodds) and the community.

We are grateful that having been some of the role models who led to the established of the project the following accepted to come on board for the top management of Glorious Education services

                                  BACKGROUND TO THE PROJECT

Kasese is one of the districts in the Rwenzori region in Uganda- East Africa that experienced severe armed conflicts by ADF rebels between 1996 and 2001. The war resulted in loss of lives and property, livelihood sources, and massive displacement of communities to over- crowded camps that were in appalling conditions with poor sanitation, poor housing, & lack of basic necessities. Post war problems such as weakened social support system, alcoholism, and prostitution, wide spread diseases, defilement, early marriages, drug abuse, child labour, have persistently been evident. These can only be gradually eliminated by educating people living in these communities.

In the host community, resources were depleted due to a high population pressure. Also hosting a big population on scarce resources for a long time has left many people unable to support their children to attain meaningful education.

Therefore there is a strong need to reconstruct lives back to their normal form and to teach the future leaders and generation ways of coping up with drastic changes coming up now and in future through guidance & counselling, and Skill Guided Education and training.

Some organisations have come up to address this problem in various parts of the country. However intervention is still needed to reach a wider community. The religious groups have preached reconciliation and forgiveness, provided counselling services, housing materials, but has yielded limited results. The local government, community leaders, and NGOs have also played their roles, but still need more committed players.

                                    PROJECT DISCRIPTION
Where as Glorious Education services (GEDS) has started operating in Kasese District,( by starting Glorious Preparatory School) it is committed to extend its services to the rest of the country and continent.

GES as a Community based organisation (CBO) is expected to serve in preparing the young children for a meaningful and successful future through accessing and interacting with the children and their parents,

To develop does not mean looking at the economic aspect only. The young like any other person need to be prepared socially in areas like: - Education, health, administration, in addition to the economic empowerment needed.

The project shall concentrate on Talent identification/development and skill development, identifying different activities in which the youth can invest, & avail them with knowledge/skills and resources where possible to start these undertakings.

On the administrative side the pupils shall be provided with skills and knowledge to grow up ready to take up leadership and serve society to its expectation. This will be attended to because some people who have been given responsibility have ended up mis-using it either knowingly or un knowingly.

PROJECT LOCATION The project’s main office is located in Kasese town council, Kasese district, Uganda, East Africa and it shall extend to other parts of the country/continent when it is strong enough.

                                  STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

With in the Rwenzori region and Uganda at large, the children and youth are marginalised, not fully empowered, nor fully informed of many issues. This has exposed them to many problems in the areas of Academics, health, economic, information and awareness.
